Alresford Show Shop Window Competition
The 2026 Alresford Show is on Saturday 5th September and we are incredibly excited to once again celebrate the very best of local agriculture, local produce and our wider community.
Every year the Show raises much needed funds for local groups, organisations and charities; many of whom support our local businesses by shopping locally.
We would therefore like your help to be a part of the build-up to the show. So this year, we are officially launching the Alresford Show Shop Window Competition, and we would love you to take part.
Competition Details:
- How to Enter: Simply decorate your window or part of your window, with the theme “A Celebration of Rural Life” being as creative as you like!
- Judging: Windows must be decorated by Monday 24th August as the 2026 Show President will be judging the competition between Monday 24th August and Monday 31st August.
- The Prizes: First-place will receive 10 tickets to the Alresford Show, to include Members Lunch at the Show for 4 people, as well as Watercress Line tickets for a future event. The runner-up will receive 10 tickets to the Alresford Show.
Whether you run a clothes boutique, a café, a charity shop, or other local business, we would appreciate your help to create ‘a celebration of rural life’. We will also provide a small Alresford Show poster to display alongside your ‘rural life’ window display.
Why Participate?
Beyond the chance to win, this competition helps create a wonderful buzz throughout Alresford, hopefully encouraging footfall and celebrating the unique spirit of our independent shops.
We will share your shop windows on our social media; please make sure you tag us and share your displays so that we can support all the local businesses who take part. We are also lucky enough to be supported by @Miss Alresford Hampshire too, so the social media reach for your shop window will be extensive!
Thank you for your continued support of the Alresford Show. We can’t wait to see your incredible displays turn the town into a complete showstopper!

Some ideas to get the creative juices flowing!
The “Mini-Show” Window: Creating a miniature version of an agricultural showground, maybe using toy tractors, toy farm animals, and green felt for grass.
The Rosette Takeover: Using giant award rosettes (1st, 2nd, 3rd prize), perhaps draped over your best-selling products…
The Wellington Boot Floral Display: Filling a row of welly boots with seasonal British wildflowers as a border along the bottom of the window.
A celebration of the animals at the Alresford Show. Using silhouettes of farm animals cut out of cardboard or plywood, faux grass turf on the window floor, or perhaps traditional wooden fencing. Perhaps dress the animals in products from your shop, or get inventive and fold leaflets or stack books into animal shapes.
A nod to the show’s heritage. The first Alresford Show was in 1909. You could showcase photos from previous years and use heritage farming tools to create a display.
Your choice….
